I have been in Denmark for many years and have brought up 2 children here, together with my Danish wife. We suffered bad bullying with our son when he was younger, but he didn't buck under - we moved him to a private school. He is now 22, a well-balanced young man. His character has been somewhat strengthened.

However, I am appalled by the similar stories I hear of children of expats being bullied because they are 'different' or 'behave as individuals'. Because they don't 'fit is the box'. In my opinion, the way to tackle this is to confront the school - they are essentially shy of conflicts here. But it can be very daunting if you do not have any support or live in an area outside the traditional 'expat rich' areas or there is no international school or private schools around.

I think this is a general problem, and I would like to propose a sub-group that could support parents and children who are faced with this discrimination. Any parents who have been through this nightmare?
