I first moved to Denmark in 1972, in all. I have lived, worked (my Butt off), breathed Denmark for 30 years.

Now married for 21 years,(second, and last time round) to a Dane, with two sons, 17 and 20yrs, born in Denmark, danish citizens, now, because my family and I have lived and worked, (legally contracted and legally selfemployed) in Spain, as EU-Borgere/Citizens for 8 years, and returned (Home) to Denmark this past January 09, my wife and I have to apply, which we have done, for "Familiesammenføring".

After being sent from one official office to another, waiting for hours on end in line, with other good people from Ethiopia,Somalia and other far off exoctic destinations, giving over, a 28 paged document, we now wait for their, (Udlændingsstyrelse) decision, of whether I am a Candidate, to be "allowed" to live in this democratic country I have called home for almost 40 years.

Denmark has its own rules with regards to EU-Borgere and "Fribevæglighed" between European countries, and totally disregards the laws and paragraphs, that Denmark, under Danish Chairmanship ruled for and signed.

Now, reaching my 60th year, with my family, with 40 years of Danish culture in my blood, and my home town of London, a distant memory, I now, for the very first time in 40 years, feel and know what it is like to be a Foreigner, a Fremmedarbejder, an udlændning in this land of democracy and hope.

Despite lawyers, Borgernes Vejviserservice, SOLVIT, De Radikale Venstre´s næsteformand for Fredensborg, and other good folk, their dismay to how EU-Borgere are treated by Denmark, their country, and after 21 years of marriage, we are downgraded to Familiesammenføring, as my wife say´s, hun skamme sig at være dansk.
